Privacy Policy

Summary

• Bank statements you convert are processed inside your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
• We do not have user accounts, a database of statements, or any storage of your transaction data.
• FinParse does not currently use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
• Like every website, the hosting provider receives standard technical request data when your browser loads the site.

Data processed by the converter

When you select a PDF, the following data is processed locally on your device:

• The PDF file you choose, including any password you enter to open it.
• Text extracted from the PDF, or recognised from scanned pages using OCR.
• The transactions shown in the table, including your edits.
• The Excel or CSV files you choose to download.

This data is held only in the memory of your browser tab. It is not sent to FinParse or any third party, is not written to cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, and is not included in page URLs. It is cleared when you remove the file, start a new conversion, reload the page or close the tab. Downloaded files are saved wherever your browser saves downloads, and are then under your control.

Do files leave the browser?

No. The converter works without sending your statement anywhere. The software components it uses – PDF.js for reading PDFs, Tesseract for OCR and SheetJS for Excel files – are delivered from this website and run on your device. When you use OCR for the first time in a session, your browser downloads the OCR engine and English language data (about 7 MB) from this website; this download contains no information about your statement.

You can confirm this in your browser’s developer tools (Network tab): during conversion you will only see requests for the site’s own files.

Technical data received by our hosting provider

When your browser requests pages and files from this website, the hosting provider automatically receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type, requested URL, referring page and time of the request. This is standard for all websites, is used to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, and does not include the content of any statement you convert. Retention of these server logs is governed by the hosting provider’s own policies.

Cookies and browser storage

FinParse does not set cookies and does not use browser storage for statement data. See the cookie policy for more detail.

Analytics

FinParse does not currently use any analytics service. If analytics is added in future, this policy will be updated first and will describe what is collected. Statement contents and financial data would never be sent to an analytics service.

Advertising

FinParse does not currently display advertising. If advertising is introduced in future (for example Google AdSense), the ad provider may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and may process data such as your IP address and browser information. This policy and the cookie policy will be updated before that happens, and any consent required by law will be requested. Advertising would never have access to your statement data, which remains in your browser.

Third-party services

Apart from the hosting provider that serves the website files, FinParse does not load third-party scripts, fonts or services. The open-source libraries listed above are bundled with and served from this website.

Emails you send us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, and use it only to reply. Please do not send bank statements or other financial documents by email.

Children

FinParse is not directed at children and does not knowingly process information about children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website changes, for example if analytics or advertising is introduced. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
